DIY external resistor fix for fan problem on a Bora

    I just got some twin 10A cable, being twin just kept it all together better. Connectors? What do you mean? See my post 2 up for a link to the connectors I used to splice into the fan wiring. If you mean on to the resistors, the wires are soldered on.

      Ah ok cheers. So you like spliced into the cable? How hards it to find the connectors, i wanna leave it as unmodified as possible incase of anything.

        Just use these type of connectors, available from Supercheap or any other store that sells auto electrical stuff.

        SCA Electrical Terminals - Wire Tap Connector, 6 Pack - Supercheap Auto

          finallly got a piece of aluminium cut the other day. Was only $5

          got all the other parts now too, so just need to find the time to fit it all up now. getting hot now so have to do it soon as i want air con!

            Errm, if your air con is not working then this mod is not going to help you. The fans not running at low speed has no effect on the operation of the air con other than helping to keep the compressor cool so it does not overheat. If your air con is not working at all now then the compressor has probably already died. Mine had, it is a costly job to fix too.

              haha, no the aircon does work i just dont use it for fear of it overheating

                well after two 29 degree days i have the resistors all mounted up to the plate and wired up ready to go. It started raining so i will have to wait until tomorrow to mount it in the car. shouldn't take long. i will let you guys know how the mod goes. fingers crossed.

                  Success! I now have low speed fans back. The mod worked perfectly. Thanks to everyones help.

                  This was performed on a 2002 V6 Bora so can vouch that the mod works on these engines.
