Broken pipe near engine - Golf 1.6L

Recently I found there is tiny oil drop (again) from the engine bay. Last year, I had similar issue, fixed by reseal the crank shaft at the front of engine. So I suspect same thing happening again. Today, when I open the engine cover to check the spark plug leads (actually don't know how to check), I found there is a "broken" black pipe hanging right hand side the engine (if you face the engine). The pipe, one end connecting to the big air intake pipe which is from the air filter box, the other end goes down under the engine. There are grease or oil mark near the area, in particular drop down to the spark plug leads underneath. I suspect this is where the oil leakage point.

Do anyone know the "broken" pipe is normal, but I doubt it? thanks.

Could possibly be your crank case breather that is split which could cause your leakage....

one problem after another

Broke pipe issue fixed.
The pipe is air intake hose from the main air in-take pipe on the top rear section under bonnet. Because of the pipe connects with the engine for "breath", hence oil can get to the bend area near the hose, and over time the plastic pipe just cracked.

Meanwhile, another problem found - leaking coolant near the rear/under engine flange.

I just discovered the same issue in my Golf 1.6 MK4. Does any one know the part number for this pipe and an idea of the cost?

Seems like the time for leaking pipes/hoses.

Mine has developed a slight roughness at idle that I think maybe caused by a leak in one of the vacuum/breather hoses...anyone know the easiest way to test and find the one that is leaking?

Had to replace the oil breather hose on my wifes 1.6 Golf. Was leaking oil on the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Also made the car idle higher randomly. Like Jmac says. Common fault for the age of the car.

Common as....
Look at the car and move the brether hoses around, where the oil and vacuum is leaking from, thats your problem.
Expensive parts from VW, or I see all sorts of dodgy bits of hoses cobbled on there which will fix the problem for a while.
Pipes from VW are best solution, they are different on all engine codes and sizes.
