  • .:R32 - Vibration in Dash

There seems to be a obvious vibration coming from the drivers side of the car, either from the dash or door. I have to put the music on to mask it. Has anybody else experienced this and solved it? Any suggestions?

Does the vibration occur at regular driving speed...worse over bumpy roads ... I had a strut mount let go recently and it sent shocking vibration and knocking throughout the cabin!

It is there all the time but worse on a course bituman surface. It has a consist frequency with the sound of what a loose screw would make on plastic....

I've got some really annoying creaking from the gearshift surround where it meets the centre console. Going to grab some foam/felt tape and line all the joins when I replace the existing gearshift surround, hoping that'll quieten the interior down.
        Nothing to see here...

you joking? that all? wowsers, try being in my ride for 2 minutes. There is about 4,001 squeaks and its all due to plastic and leather rubbing.

In behind and around the air vents are normally a spot where it occurs. Always fun to pull apart your dash. Bring your car to Brisbane for a day or so and leave it with Jmac to sort out your squeaks and rattles. There's a lovely quality road near his place which is perfect for identifying all of them.

                rattle from rear cabin area.

can be loose items. or the parcel tray rubbing or binding against trim. use soft side of velcro to dampen it. vwvortex has a thread on noises and rattle. can find if yuoiu would like.

                squeak from centre console area.

this drove me mad when i first got it. it wouild creak and squeak like a $5 kid's toy.

i dismantled MOST of the interior parts. and I dampened parts with foam and velcro. but it didn't help much. I then got silicone spray (auto store). and sprayed parts and trim that contact each other. Just spray with the tube thing. and wipe excess off with a soft cloth.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have narrowed the rattle/vibration down to the centre console so probably need to try pulling it apart and trying a few things to solve it. Actually I will try the silicone spray first and see if that helps. Keep you posted...........

Loving this car though. Even better than I thought it would be. It keeps growing on you....!
