  • MKIV aerial seal

Hey does anyone know where I can get the oval rubber seal for a bee sting aerial - I'm located in Melbourne any leads would be much appreciated

I did a Group buy of 25 or so a while back off a Ebay site based in the UK, worked out cheaper then buying direct even after i posted them off to everyone around OZ.
Maybe do a WTB thread for them and see if theres any interest. Id be happy to give contact details etc

Yep mine is gone too, just split a week or so ago. Jmac on here has a bunch of the whole kits on order at the moment.
In the meantime, electrical tape and Vaseline are your friend.
      Cheers,

Saw them on the ECS site a while ago, dont think they were overly expensive either

this is what i believe they got in the group buy

i purchased one of these myself. not sure why you'd bother group buying it when you can get it delivered direct to your doorstep for $9, but to each his own.

BTW, they are not very good IMO. the stock ones have more meat in them, and more sealing surface that goes under the aerial. Mine never really has sat flush with the car, however i've checked the car after heavy rain and it hasn't seemed to leak, so i'm not too bothered by it.

Costs a bit more, but comes with the whole base, not just the gaskethttp://http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_IV--1.8T/Search/Antenna/ES8964/

The kit requires the headliner to be dropped, apparently this is a PITA.
The ebay solution is just forced over the top, 2 min job.

I got one from the group buy dylan organised and have never had a problem with it. It didn't quite fit flush the first time I put it on, but it said in the instructions to just soak it again in some hot water and try again. After that, it fit perfect on mine.

I've been looking for this since I bought the car.

I'd be happy to get the ESC kit and drop my headlining, atm it's dropping down a bit and seems like the glue let go so needs to be pulled down anyways.

anyone know if its possible to get just the rubber seal from VW????

Nope, you have to buy the whole ariel base kit at a cost of approx $350 from memory, hence why I went with Dylan's group buy!

i had the same problem, did heaps of research. called ECS in usa, and also checked on sum euro website. there is no single gasket available. and for the mk4 you have to buy whole antenna assem. BUT with the MK3 you can buy a assem Kit $23 which has seal in it. also from a MK5 you can buy a seal on its own for only $8 from the dealer. they both arent a great fit but pretty close.. and a hell of better option then spending 200 -300 on a whole antenna assem.
