and your car isn't quite at the top of the driveway where you left it?

just about had a heart attack when i saw this:

but started to crack a smile when i saw this!

and was grinning, almost laughing when i saw this

Thank fook for otto bins! (and for my car's intelligent decision to turn left and aim for them and not the garage!!!)

For those wondering, car was left in neutral, and handbrake was only half on... bit of a lesson for me...
but i'm pretty sure i'm the luckiest person in oz right now. buying a lotto ticket tomorrow

haha, yeah pretty much. although maybe i dropped it to grab my camera phone out of it, haha.

i just noticed the huge tyre behind the yellow bin, just that little bit of extra cushioning for the impact!!!

the car is almost completely unscathed, except the left side of the car where it looks like it went through a bush, there's are actually stone blocks lining the garden edge, and my tyre must have scraped that cos it left a decent black mark, but the alloys are fine!

        Very lucky there.
I'd say it came down slowly as the brakes cooled the park brake was not enough to hold it.

I've had this happened to a friend of my brothers once. parked on an incline, just to duck inside for a tick. car was left in neutral, with the handbrake on (fully) but once the rear rotors cooled down and shrunk, the car rolled forwards a bit. (due to the incline)

lesson: always leave the car in gear. unless you have remote start

Boy you were lucky with that mate and its an incident that happens way too often ! A similar incident happened with a mate of mine a few years ago. Automatic Honda Accord was parked on his upward sloping driveway. He popped inside for a second, and he here's this bang, comes outside to see his car rolled down all the way back into his brick letter box

To this date... he is the only person i've known who's been able to write off his car without being in the car lol

Lesson to be learned is yank that hand brake up high and as Jarred mentioned, leave it in park or in gear !!

This happened to me in my Mazda6 a couple of years ago... Sloping driveway, I was in a hurry to pick something up and go out again, so I parked up the driveway. I came back out to find it had rolled down the driveway, PAST my wife's car (about 300mm clearance each side when I'm driving it down), and to where I normally park the car... missed everything. LOL... The alarm went off which was what alerted me.

When I was a kid we lived in Scotland, and in winter it happened a couple of times that we'd come out in the morning and find my Mum's car in the street... if it rained and then froze the driveway turned to ice and the car would just scoot down on its own. Never any damage fortunately.
