  • Front passenger window fallen into door...help!

    Hi guys/girls

My window has fallen into my door!
I've opened the door up to see whats happening and found this white piece that use to hold the window has been broken (both of them).

What is this piece called and where can i get them? how much does it cost? I live in melbourne .

I'm sorry i can't provide any pics but its this white squarish piece that holds the window and is attatched to the metal rods.....

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You need a window regulator repair kit. $116 from your dealer and about 1hour to replace.
All your windows will fail at some point. The repair kit uses metal clips.
ECS sell kits for 2 windows for round $50 US.
If you ask Manaz nicely you might get into the ECS group buy and get it in a week.

I picked up the Window Regulator Repair Kit (that's what you ask the dealer for) for $125. It includes a new cable spindle, since that's probably been toasted too. It's not a fun job to replace, but easily doable.

I believe (but don't quote me) that VW had a 7 year extended warranty on this defect. They won't tell you that, but they are required to fix it if your car is less than 7 years old, regardless of how many people have owned it.

Personally I think they should be handing out the repair kits for free!

7 year deal was probably US only.

More than likely. IMHO this should have been a total recall, but I guess it doesn't get classified as a safety risk.
