sure, it has a cylinder removed, as I said it's derived from the VR6. So I guess I'm trying to understand your comments - why is it the 'worst designed engine on the planet' & so incredibly hard to work on? Maintenance costs for the V5 certainly arent any worse than a GTI or VR6. Lots of Euro cars came out in a 5 cylinder....Mercedes, BMW, Volvo & Audi to name a few. Sure they're rare, doesnt mean they aren't good - the engine certainly doesnt have any common major problems2004 V5 Bora ~ Eibach Pro + Bilstein B8 ~ Tyrol Brake Upgrade

hahah I wud take a 4mo over a GTI any day !
Depends on the V5 whether it is of 120 KW or 110 KW configuration in either case, I would rather have a GTI than a V5, I used to find the V5 we had (110 KW) was a very smooth car but I didn't like the lack of power
It went well for it's displacement and size of car but really, It needed a lot more balls
Having said that, I got ours to about 200 Odd kays on the way to the airport in South Africa.... hahah passed a semi on the way he looked like he was standing still lol
