A couple of things (sorry not trying to ruin the party).

With those mods you will be over the kW/tonne limit. Chip, exhaust and CAI will get you pretty close to 200kW plus with the weight reduction from the exhaust you might be nudging around the 138kW/t mark.

What this means then is that if you list these mods on your insurance you will nullify your insurance when you're driving as it's an illegal car for you to drive.

If you don't list them and something happens, then your insurance will be void anyway if you have an at fault claim due to having performance parts on your car and being a P-Plater.

Basically for everything to be kosher and for your insurance to be bulletproof you need to put the car back to stock.

Of course you can always run the risk but at the end of the day this is a collectible car, there's talk now of less than 180 left in the country (someone has mentioned as low as 150), we got to look after them and keep them safe.

                Cheers,
                Trent

yeah i know what you mean insurance will be under my dad's name cause trying to insure this car when you're 18 costs an arm and a leg but even then still not covered really should probably put everything back to stock but dont think my bro has the stock parts he went to QLD to get this about 2-3 years ago i'll have to look into it though
                  thanks

Like treza360 said, be careful of your modifications, especially been on first year P's.

urrrrgghh, i feel so old and grey saying this, but as Trent has said, you are risking an amazing and highly collectable car by driving it on your P's with (possibly unlisted) mods.

You're kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place and i totally empathise with you. but it seems to be 100% kosher you need to either take the car back to stock or close to it, or man up and list all your mods to the insurance company and see. Even doing that it seems you'll be over the kw/t rule.

                      A nice compromise might be:
                      1. Take the car back to stock
                      2. Itemise the parts
                      3. Deliberate on selling them now for some cash (how good would it be knowing ALL your fuel has now been paid for, for example)
                      4. If you don't sell them, clean and polish them and enjoy knowing that when you get off your P's you will have instant awesome mods.

The added benefit of going to stock now is, admittedly, you'll appreciate the car as it was designed and engineered. Once you get used to that, you'll be off your P's in no time and you get the added bonus of modding your car and falling BACK IN LOVE with it all over again.

I am jealous moreso of THAT, rather than your car as such

I still think p platers should not be drivin these cars

it'd be pretty hard to prove the whole power to weight thing, especially when you look into dyno plots etc etc, and what an R32 makes on a dyno i.e. not all that much with drivetrain loss.

As for modifications I'd stick with just the one or two, like keeping the suspension and exhaust but removing the CAI, I've and am having alot of trouble getting my VR6 insured atm with the modifications, agreed value and being 21 even though the car only has 74k on it

Shannons are bloody expensive when i called, and that was rating 1 driver etc.

I think you need a car >30years old for that to be worth it..

They can still make 150awkw like mine.

Pretty sure he'll be using his money to cover maintenance cost instead of mods, unless the parentals are paying for those...
