just dont drive it like an idiot and attract attention from :

          a. brainless drivers wanting a race

          b. cops

and all will be fine. I am so jealous, If I had such a beast even offered to be at 18, I'd be cheering too!

Seconded. There were only 200 of these sold in Australia, and I'm quite certain the number that are left is quite a bit lower than that now. Show the car the respect it deserves, and you and it will both be fine.

Thats only a potential threat on the second or more street racing offence fortunately.

Not that you should even bother racing anything more than a manual falcon your apt to loose anyway

I'd really rather not see people racing once because well, they won't get their car impounded or crushed the first time...

The very real threat of death/injury (you only have to look at the news of late, or even examples within this community) would be much more in my mind, to be frank.

Power is actually 177kW and weight for the MkIV is 1477kg.
That gives a power to weight ratio of 120kW/t rounded up (119.84 kW/t if you want to be specific).
I believe the Victoria limit is 125kW/t so the R32 makes it in. Check the Vic Roads website (which is down at the moment) for the latest regulations though as the reference I found was from 2007.
                      Cheers,
                      Trent

Ah fair enough my mistake, but yeah its still lower than 125kw/t regardless.

Firstly welcome to the forum. Its great to have another prospective R owner among the ranks. Continuing on from Trents advice, I second that you will have no problems driving the R on your p's. I know of another member on here in victoria driving an R on his Ps. I'm sure you will look after it and appreciate it. Check out the Mk r R32 registry here. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=37111 If you do obtain the car I would love to know the #, colour and any pics you may have. Again, welcome.

Welcome mate I trust you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of the R so long as you respect it and maintain it well. Look after it, and it will look after you!
