  • 2.0 Sump plug washers

    Hi guys,
Doing an oil change, and I notice that my engine has no sump plug gasket. Doesn't seem right to me. Repco have "no part listed". Is this correct, or does someone know the size to specify?

    Thanks in advance!

Looks like the part number for the washer has been superceeded by the part number of the plug itself, perhaps a new plug from VW would be the answer if an updated plug was developed.

Thats a big claim and it seems to be the thing here to point fingers at the dealers (not "stealers...)
The new sump plugs are readily available at the DEALERS for around $3 retail verses a packet of 14 m/m washers from an auto store for around the same price.

Got the correct size washer, thanks all. The AutoPro had a listing. Though they supplied a fibre washer instead of a copper one.

What it's made of shouldn't matter too much, as long as it can seal the sump plug in place and not deteriorate.

We replace the entire plug at work, since backyarders have a tendancey to overtighten over-used plugs, causing damage to the thread in the sump. Besides, did it ever occur to anyone why it is such a bitch to get the old washer off the plug?

Don't be a tightarse. Replace the whole thing and avoid all the drama.
