  • Mk. IV rear fog light question

    Hi guys,

My car has front and rear fog lights, but on the rear only the right side works. I have replaced the bulb to no effect, and on checking the socket it has no power.

Is this a standard thing with Golfs? Does the Australian model only have one working rear fog light, or is there a damaged wire somewhere?

Before anyone says "never need them in Australia", I generally agree, but I'm one of those folks that likes everything in my car to work, whether or not I actually use it!

It's fairly common to have only a single rear foglight.
    Nothing to see here...

      Yes only 1 fog.
There is a fairly easy mod to get the other one to work. Also a 5 light break mod turns 2 fogs into break lights.

Have a look on the 'Tex

        Awesome, cheers guys.

If it's not meant to work, then I'm not going to go out of my way to get it going. Just a bit odd that all the wiring and sockets are in place for nothing.

mine worked straight up, a large number of globes went out so we went on a replacing spree to find i was missing one, put a globe in and it works! i think as you'll see else where that some cars need to be wired up.

The fog light is on the driver's side by default, (ie the side which is closest to the middle of the road) so the wiring would be in place to accomodate both left hand drive or right hand drive markets without needing two different sets of clusters from teh factory.
