HELP Required on a 2003 1.6 Golf Gen.

Hi Guys,

How are you?
I'm not sure if this is the right place for the 2003 model Golf?

I need help in getting the spark plugs,
eg where can i get them i mean the platinum plugs and
how to pull them out of the car and install them as well.

I was looking at youtube but couldn't find anything there.

Any help that i can get would be great.

Repco, etc should have them - go in, tell them what car you've got, and they should be able to give you the options available.

That said, we're currently running a group buy from ECS Tuning in the US if you're interested - check their website (http://www.ecstuning.com) to see if they list what you need, if so, let me know in the EOI thread, and we'll see what sort of pricing we can get for you!

For fitting - you just need an appropriate sized (diameter and length) socket - take off the distributor leads, remove the old ones, insert the new ones (probably best to ensure the gap's set correctly), re-attach leads. That's it!

Spark Plugs

Hi, I have just replaced the spark plugs in my 1.6

I used the Bosch Platinum Plugs and got them from Supercheap. They were about $94 a set from memory.

Changing them can be a bit tricky. Plugs 1 and 4 are easy enough to do but plugs 2 and 3 are difficult to get to.

You will need to remove the 2 engine covers and then use a spark plug socket, a universal joint and a long extension to reach them.
