  • Replacement key - 2000 Golf GTI.

    Hey all,

I need another key for my car as when I bought the car it only came with the original round key (with light).. I've searched through the forums trying to gather information, so far I've worked out that the part number is:
HLO 1JO 959 753 A. Is this correct? If this is so, is there anything stopping me from replacing it with the same part number but in a remote version as these seem to be the most affordable (on ebay)? I realise I will have to have it cut and programmed.

I did find this while searching on google:

    "HLO IJO 959 753 A - All vw's from 1997 - 2000. HLO 1JO 959 753 N is usable and superceeds the older oval key used previously!

    HLO 1J0 959 753 AG - vw golf's only 2000-2004. HLO 1JO 959 753 CT now superceeds the older part number hlo 1jo 959 753 AG."

    From this information I'm not sure if my car takes the HLO IJO 959 753 A (now HLO 1JO 959 753 N) or the HLO 1J0 959 753 AG (now HLO 1JO 959 753 CT) ..

Any help or suggestions would be great!

    Thanks,

    Miha.

    The 1J0 959 753 A key fitted from chassis 1J-X-000001 to 1J-1-220000 (1999 - 2001)

    The 1J0 959 753 N key fitted from chassis 1J-1-220001 to 1J-1-900000 (late 2001)

So either of these should work okay in your car with a 1J0 xxx xxx part number Comfort Control Module (if you have one).

The later keys came out with the later Comfort Module (1C0 xxx xxx).

Not sure if the later key has a different spec immo chip in the remote head which may not match your existing immo chip. i.e. might not code to car correctly.
PM if you are looking for: R32 rear sway bar; R32 suspension springs; Euro Headlight switches
