What is your idle issue, idling high and hunting???? there is a Vac line under the inlet is prone to splitting, there is a few more things that affect idle on that motor and can be diagnosed by VCDS (VAGCOM) AC and power steering switches idle up, if any of them are faulty they can keep the idle up mate, and no i havent hear the youtube link yet
    Cheers

Maybe I'm being too picky, I just thought it was unusual for the idle to jump around like that, I hadn't seen it before in any other cars and thought there must have been a problem.. So, sounds like it's acceptable for this car.

        Thanks!

yeah my car idles the exact same as yours does in the video. so i'm guessing witht he last comment also, that it's normal.
i have had mine drop briefly to around 500rpm about 4-5 times in the last few months. i've had the throttle body cleaned and it has happened once since.
but it's so rare i don't really see it as a problem.
(btw i'm pretty sure you meant 500 not 50, cos i'd be surprised if it could recover from stall if it dropped all the way to 50! or at least it would be very rough!

Yeah, sorry. I meant it fluctuated 50 RPM haha, 50 rpm as it's base point would be a real worry.

Thanks for your help everyone! I appreciate it.

Agree with Jmac here. When my TB needed a clean out and the sensor was playing up, my idle was bouncing around from 1200 to 1400 range. You've got nothing to worry about if it's sitting like that video all the time If you switch the air con from auto to econ or turn it off completely, then back on you, you should hear the aux fan etc kick in and the revs will jump up a bit to compensate but that's it.
