  • Hose in engine bay disconnected

    Hey guys,

today I decided to clean the engine bay of my Golf (2.0 Sport) and took the engine cover off to discover this little hose not connected to anything yet it has a little clamp on the end of it.

Does anyone know what this hose (circled in red) does and where it connects?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt.

I should mention, I put it through that metal thing so it was easier to take a picture, It was hanging down when I found it.

In the second picture on the left hand side on the inlet manifold there is a nipple....attach it to there.

I can't believe that I didn't even see the nipple right there.

So you are gonna have 2 crap things happen with that off, excessive fuel consumption, too high fuel pressure, and drawing secondary air, very inportant and yeah that was 3 points

I haven't yet had a drive actually. I know I know, it was right there in front of me. The garage was dark will be my excuse, but how did I miss it in the pic .

haha, d/w, because you couldn't see it at the time in the flesh, you wouldn't have thought that taking a photo would help you find where it goes. whereas we had only the photo to look at.

this is a good reminder that the occassional inspection under the bonnet, even if you're like me and know little about cars, can be a good thing because you find things like this disconnected and things that just don't look right.
