And im looking at a few 02 2.3L Boras, the semi auto ones, my question is when is the major service due and what should I look for to let me know it has been carried out... aside from log books.

Also If it hasnt been carried out who in west sdney should I see n how much would I be looking at paying?

Not sure on the values or service schedules on those - Redbook may help give you a starting point for value, the service log book should tell you about what servicing a car has had (and what's involved at each). I paid $17k for my 2003 V6 4Motion with 90,000km on the clock just over a year ago, the market's gone down since then, I'd guess you'd probably be looking at ~$12k for a recent model (there was an upgrade mid-way through the model lifecycle, sometime around mid-2002, the 5 cylinder engine got more power (up to 125kW), interior changed slightly).

For Western Sydney, Seb at Euro Automotive is probably your closest VW specialist, though there's a specialist down at Parra too apparently. Golf_Loon is down Camden way.
