  • Modified Mk4 Gti fuel consumption

Note - stock as rock please don't say anything

I chipped it, run 225/40/18 tyres, KW V2 coilver, trip computer reports 10.x L per 100Km, mostly suburb drive. Before the mod I remember I could do 9L (or even less) per 100km.

What mod do you guys have and how do they affect fuel consumption ?

you drive it harder, it boosts harder, you use more fuel

i get less yes, i get about 450-550 in the city and 550-790 (best) on the freeway. but i probably have a considerable more mods then you ..

if you drive it sedately you should get better mileage in theory.
    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Big wheels won't help, lots of extra drag.

Nanny drive any you will get 8 or better, drive really hard and the number jumps to about 10 to 11 /100km.
        Worst 11.5L/100km
        Best is 691km. or 7.9L/100km
My average is 9.3. I drive hard but get regular 70-90km runs on my commute. 590km from each tank.

My wife can achieve low 7s all the time.

I was getting fairly consistently around 9L/100km, doing a pretty even mix of driving using mostly Shell V-Power.

          Oettinger chip, 3" exhaust.

i usually get anywhere between 450-550 km out of a tank on average around town. can get slightly more if i go on a highway drive and drive conservativley...

hard to behave myself since the remap though, second gear has since become a lot more fun lol

always use BP ultimate, and mods are listed below in my sig...

How do you guys measure km 'out of a tank' ? do you drive till the fuel light come on ? my old school teacher told me this is not a good practice to keep your car healthy.

if you have 55L tank (im pretty sure that's what size tanks golfs have) and your car burns 10L per 100kms it means your car gets 550kms out of a 55L tank... just guessing that's how they figure that out

With my Oettinger chip + K04, I get about 450km from a tank, fill is normally about 54L, don't like to push it much more than that. I figure I can get about 40km once the light comes on.

My daily commute is about 11km round trip which is not good for economy at all, get to open it up on the weekends a bit sometimes though. Computer averages about 9.8L / 100 I reckon (resetting Trip 2 to zero each time I fill up) but I doubt that is accurate!

Revo stage 1, K&N Panel air filter, 3 inch turboback exhaust on 17's. I average 7.8 L per 100kms on my normal cummutes between maitland and newcastle. Mostly highway, but i have been known to give it a burst occasionally on the way. My fuel light comes on just after 600kms if i let it drop that far....

To be honest i think these engines give good economy modded or not. If you drive them gently they give great results. They are easy to drive at low to mid range revs compared to my e30 318is, which really needs to be kept above 3k rpm to get the same enjoyment...

                      1.8 20v GLE Fuel Consumption ?

                      Hey Dubbers,
I've got a early GLE with the non-turbo 1.8. Its a good drive but I don't think I've ever managed less than 10L/100km. Has anyone else got the same vehicle and can tell me if this is in the ballpark of their figures? I'm usually in the 10.5 to 11.5 range.

                      cheers

I get on average ~ 10 litres per 100km in my 1.8t. And that's copping a regular bootful

well thankfully I managed a 9.38 L the other day, that's a record for me. She's a good engine but thirsty sometimes.
