what ignition leads to use and where to get them ??for 2.8 bora with coilpack

  • #2
My V6 2.8 Bora doesn't have leads. The coil packs are right on top of the plugs. Your car may not need leads?

Yeah, I am thinking the same. I thought they were all single coil pack motors.

        Pete and Gavin are correct.

The Mk3 VR6 had leads, but the Mk4 V6 went to t coil-on-plug design - the coilpacks sit directly on top of the spark plugs in the top of the engine.
        Nothing to see here...

Andrew what's the engine code mate, sticker in the service book or the spare wheel well.

Or a photo of the engine, we are still not convinced that his engine needs plug leads.

So where are the coils sitting?

On the Mk3 VR6, they sat on the passenger side of the engine IIRC.

My understanding though is that all 24v V6s in Mk4 cars have individual coilpacks situated directly above each of the the spark plugs, and thus there are no leads.

Still need your engine code to be sure but it does look like it has leads as you say. VW or Imparts would be the source for them.

What makes you think you need them? I am not a big fan of changing stuff unless they are broken, especially as they are likely to be big ticket items.

The 2001 V6 Bora used coilpack with leads . They are different to mk3 VR6 leads in that they have a puller attached to them
