My 1st car was a commodore and the transponder chip was inside the key fob itself, so you could get the metal key component cut for $4 at any good key cutter (like the one I used to work at...) and then just buy the key head for $40 and screw the new key into it. Holden charged $90 for a whole new key to be cut, but $40 just for the key head alone..

I have obtained a blank programmable key for my MKIV Golf, but am unable to find anywhere that can program it for me. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Melbourne where I can get this done, and how much it will cost to get the key CUT and PROGRAMMED?
