VAG cables - look what I found

I'm looking for the same for anyone in SA - Also would like the distance until empty mod done.

Anyone know if you can utilise a OBDII cable somehow, like is there an adapter you can purchase or something?

I reckon you need vag-tacho for that. It has to be the right make of clocks too. Jmac would lend me his if you check the make of clocks you have.

I have VAG-COM whenever you need something looking at. Sparkling is the currency of choice.

You need to see if your dash is the right version.

I tell you what I am almost at the stage where I bite the bullet and buy the genuine cable. Tried two ebay cables (one is mine, one is a mates) and neither works. We get a connection in, but can't access any controllers

Made all the necessary COM port changes, tried different drivers and different versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 2003 Server) even tried variations of service packs on all.



As you can see from pic above, mine doesn't report a serial either. Is this common?

My genuine Micro-Can works fine with Windows 7 which Ross-Tech do not support or recommend. So I doubt your Windows version is the problem. Dunno about the serial no tho. Someone else with a knockoff that is working in shareware mode can perhaps comment. You might just have to bight the bullet.

The guy who sold me the cable is happy to give a refund. I would just like to find out if the cable is the problem before I look at buying a legit one and returning the ebay one
