  • Looking to buy an R32 - New Member (Kind of)

    Hey guys!

I'm a huge fan of VW's and I've been reading this forum for a while now and also signed up a few months back. This is my first post though, lol.

I'm a good friend of Mark (malteser), not sure if you guys know him or not. I took these pictures of his VR6 for him:

Anyways, I used to own a Mazda MX6, and recently bought an AE92 Corolla SX Hatch (4AGE POWAH!), and now am very keen on buying my all time realistic dream car

I'm doing some research and looking into the world of mkIV R32's and was wondering if you guys can point out what to look for when buying such a car, all the good and bad points (in terms of reliability/parts/performance/mods etc). I wont be getting the car for a while, but it is definatley coming in due time.

    Cheers,
    Denis.

Just a couple of pics of my old MX6, I'm still yet to take pics of my AE92.

    hi denis,,

I think the R32 is a great car, but I have no experience with them, so don't listen to me!!

while you are looking, perhaps also take a look at the Audi S3 (8L) as an alternative option

All the info you require on the car is availabe in this thread on VWVortex.

Once you have read that thread and browsed the rest of the posts in the R32 forum on there if you have any specific questions on the Australian spec car fire away, although there are only minor differences to the US spec cars. As for what to look out for try and find a low KM example that has been well maintained and has all its servicing history, there are one or two good examples available through members here for what are very reasonable prices and I'm sure they will point you to their adverts in the classified section.

      Cheers Al

Gareth: Yeah, i have checked out the Audi Range, but nothing is going to change my mind on a mkIV R32

quozl: Thanks for the link mate, heaps of useful info there. I've checked carsales and what not, and there are very limited choices for an R32

And to make it worse, I dont want to get any other colour but Pearl Blue.. lol
