Hello everyone, this is my very first post
I have owned my Golf Mk 4 for 5 months, and it seems to have a broken piston ring. What should I do?!?! I have been quoted between $3000 and $6000 to get the mechanic to fix it just by a phone conversation with Leon's motors. Or there is a Golf at one of the wreckers in Brisbane I have been quoted $1500 to buy the engine then another $1500 to get it into my car. I looked into trading it in for a new polo but they will only give me $6000 towards the new one - I bought it for $12500 so thats a big loss for just a few months of driving!
This is my first real car (I had a 72 Type 3 before this one) and I only know a little bit about motors so I really have no idea what to do.
It's just done 170 000kms, and I am located in Brisbane.
It's the 2001 2L model if that info helps
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Karina
