  • 5 year old GTI - Birthday Present (practical)

Well she's 5 years old in a couple of weeks so I've ordered the birthday present, an ECS Timing Belt kit and an R1 diverter valve.

    Hopefully she'll like it.

    Very nice!

I'm pretty impressed with the ECS Suspension refresh kit I put into my Bora.

A good time to be buying from overseas again with the Aussie dollar buying over 80c US!

Ooo I love buying new toys for my car. You should buy some more things

Manaz, I think my GTI is due for a suspension bush refresh - what was the cost to get it installed - if you don't mind me asking.

I had multiple stuff done at once - the front suspension refresh kit, coilovers and R32 brakes (at all four corners) all installed for ~$1000. That said, there wasn't a lot of labour duplication in the front end in doing that, as the front end had to be almost totally disassembled for just the suspension refresh, so installing the coilovers and brakes wouldn't have added much at all.

There's a few other toys laying around here that I need to get installed like TT control arm bushes and a Neuspeed Lower Tie Brace I'm currently waiting on.

I'm watching with interest to see how the TST braces come up.

Here's a pic of the lower tie bar, I'm hoping that this combined with the TT control arm bush upgrade there will be quite a noticable improvement in the front end:

Here's where it installs on the car:

              Here's some blurb from Neuspeed:

"Neuspeed's front lower tie bar was demanded by many customers. It is designed to stiffen the lower subframe by connecting the cantilevered forward ends. It is made from billet 6061 T6 aluminum with anodized ends and a polished center section. Motorsport control arm bushings may be required to obtain the maximum benefit from this part."

              Snowy.
