  • Urgent R32 Help

    Hey Guys,

Started to notice that my clutch has been slipping a little bit over the last 2 days, but only now I struggle to get up most hills,

what are the chances of finding a suitable replacement before tuesday as I am tracking the car at winton on that day?

any ideas? was hoping to upgrade from the standard mkiv r32 clutch but I know chances of finding one before tuesday is slim

    any help appreciated

    Tom

finding a clutch is one thing. but having it fitted by then would be the biggest challenge!

I think you need to accept you've lost your deposit. Even if you secure the parts and find someone, do you really want them to rush and to pay them to rush??

I'm not too familiar with the MK4 R32, but I'd be looking at pulling the engine/transmission out in one go, and splitting it on the floor if it were me doing the job.

Providing no other parts were required, you'd be looking at roughly at least a 4-day turnaround.

I think a workshop in the know normally quotes 6 - 8 hours labour for a job like this.

              4 days is VERY excessive.
I had mine (not R32) done in 1 1/2 days including full service.

There is a better chance of finding someone else to take your spot at the track day then getting it all sorted by Tuesday.

Just goes to show you should never give up, I have spoken with the boys at evolve technik in Box Hill and they are going to do it monday. Highly recommend these guys if you are ever need of their assistance whether it be for race preps or high quality tunes.

I'm glad you're getting it sorted, mate.

4 days was a worst-case-scenario thing. I have this impression that the R32 would be a bitch of a thing to replace a clutch on, but if they're confident they can do them in much shorter time, then more power to them, I say
