im getting my car serviced in the nxt few weeks and i would like to supply the oil and haldex oil and just curious what would be the best oil to use for the r32? how much oil does the car take?? can i also buy the haldex oil in any motor shop or have to buy from VW specialist??

The Haldex Oil is a specialist "part" as such. http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...etrain/Haldex/ has some info on what's needed for a full Haldex oil change.

For engine oil, any oil that meets the VW specifications (which should be mentioned in your owner or service manual) will do. You own an R32 though, and I'd not be skimping on oil myself if I had one - I'd be looking for a high quality full synthetic personally.
    Nothing to see here...

Penrite HPR5 in my car. Just got it service yesterday by Jmac. The last batch of it has done the full 15000km service life and was in excellent condition when changed. Not dark, thick and and gluggy and still plenty there. Good stuff.
Jmac will know the full amount required.
What km service are you up to?
      Cheers,

I believe semi-syth is acceptable (in that some semi-synth oils meet the VW standards), but if you've got an R32, I suspect you're not a budget shopper anyway - I'm not saying run off and pay $100+ per 5L for Royal Purple or Mobil 1, but there are some other brands out there that have a good fully synth in their range for more reasonable prices.

I use Semi synthetic HPR5 because it still clings and doesnt drop off like fully synthetic does, and before i go on its my opinion, we could all argue about oils and i dont want to start an oil war, we have enough flames to put out with suspension and chips anyway i think fully synthetic turn the bores and bearings on these engines to glass. Magnatec is great, i use it on N/A engines depending on engine age of course., and HPR5 on forced induction stuff. Diesel 1K golfs wouldnt go passed the recommended powerflow professional Castrol. Other diesels i use Nulon 5w30 diesel(vw approved)
Again my opinion and lets keep it tame, lets face it there is a lot of stuff out there and also depends on budget.

After seeing an oil test by vince rigoli on a dyno, am going to give nulon oil a shot, after previously using fuchs and shell helix ultra.

Test seems slightly flawed, in that the grades of oil weren't all the same. Mobil 1 5w50 is going to be less viscous at running temps, so would probably hinder the power output. Be good if there were more tests conducted on other dynos.

5.5litres mate for the engine, for you trans i recommend Redline MTL. roughly 2.6 litres req for that. remember your Haldex is dealer only, however the filter can be outsourced as Hengst manufacture the filter.
