  • GTI clutch question

My GTI finally needs a new clutch. I have had a bit of a look at ECS and am usure if i should go for a lightened flywheels or not.

They have 20lbs or 14lbs im looking at.
Does anyone have experiance with the 14lbs wheel. seeing torque isnt a big problem in the car i figure i could prob get things to happen a bit quicker by getting the lighter flywheel.

I assume the clutches from the US are no different to the ones in our cars.
(someone pls say something if they are)

Also does anyone recommend any other easy to aquire clutch combinations for a 1.8T?

    Thanks in advance.

Dual mass removes vibration, single mass does not.

I would recommend the stock clutch and flywheel.

Have a search and you'll find this discussed a few times in the last month or so.

easy to aquire ? What do you mean, call your dealer or mechanic and get a quote.

I have had a bit of a serch and no one has mentioned the lightened flywheel.

I have had plenty of other cars without a dual mass flywheel and have had no problems so i dont really need it if a single mass is cheaper.

Im want to know what else is easy to aquire as i know combinations of different parts work. I have done this in cars in the past, mixed and matched flywheel/clutch combos, just wondering what other have found that works and is easy to get.

Not interested in getting it from a Dealer. too much $$ for something like this.

I've lost a lot of top end with the 14lb. Hoping to go back to 20lb very soon.

If you can handle the chatter, single mass is fine.

Have a look here for a bit of a dual/single mass discussion.
