  • Central Locking - Passenger Lock Pops Back Up?

    Hey gang,

I've got a MK4 GTI that has central locking by key (not wireless) and when I park the car and lock it using the key in the drivers side door the car locks fine and off I go.

When I am in the car and I hit the LOCK DOORS button, all of the locks go down, and then the passenger side one jumps back out and I have to push it down manually.

Not a big deal - but we had an attempted car jacking last year so we always lock the doors and every time I hit the button, my wife then has to push down the lock, or I need to lean over and press it down.

Occasionally, and only very occasionally the passenger rear lock will pop up at the same time as the passenger front also.

    Any ideas?

I'd consider it a slightly bigger deal after being the vitim of attempted carjacking!
I have a similar problem but it happens when using the key to lock the door from the outside; occasionally one of the back (usually left) pops back up after locking. I know this doesn't really help you sorry! But you aren't alone anyway!
My solution: get a remote-locking kit installed and have all the bits checked! My housemate had a remote central locking kit put on his corolla not long ago...thinking that it might be an idea - and bonus of having remote locking for when its pouring with rain. Tonkins were excellent for supplying & installing - though figure (after watching your videos) you could probably manage it yourself haha...

My guess would be some resistance in the locking mechanisms triggering an "anti-bind" behaviour which re-unlocks the door rather than constantly fighting against a perceived resistance.

It might be worth looking at the mechanism in each door and ensuring it's all nicely aligned and lubricated.
      Nothing to see here...

from wat I've read on Vortex u need to take the door locking module apart and u need to check the soldering on them usually crack solder is the cause so all u need to do is melt the solder so seal the cracks and apply a bit more solder to strengthen the connection and u set.
