  • Wheel bearing torque setting?

Does anyone know the torque sitting for the 12 point nut on a MK4 golfs front axle? I have had a search on the net but people seem to have different views on what the correct setting actually is.

    Cheers

Here's the procedure (actually supposed to use a new nut) :

      - Weight of vehicle must be on it's wheels.
      - Tighten the 12 point nut to 200Nm (148ft-lb) and immediately loosen 1/2 turn.
      - roll the vehicle so the wheel turns 1/2 rotation
      - use a texta to mark one of the nut point
      - make a second mark on the wheel hub 2 nut points away in the tightening direction.
      - Tighten the 12 point nut until the two marks line up.
      - you're done!

As per what Snowy said. Just had a look at my ElsaWin. Says the same thing. There are some other methods but that's one way they say to do it.
