  • G.Box Shifter cable identification

Hey i have purchased another gearbox( ECW ) to replace my broken one, everything i can see is the same with the old gearbox( ENJ ) except the top where the shifter cable go. i have same photos here. can anyone tell me weather i have to swap the old gearbox's cable selector off onto the new gbox? or can i link my existing shifter cables to the new gear boxes setup??

Any help would be great, Thanks

I reckon you need to get the shifter mechanism from the same car as the new box came out of to make it work.

There's an early and late shifter set up and you have one of each. I'd be trying to swap that new box for the same style as the one you have.

I reckon the old box is just missing the shifter mechanism, did you take it off ? The new one looks like it has the shifter mechanism on. But I would double check as per post above the mechanisms are the same or similar.

If you look at both boxes, one has a built in reverse light switch, the other has one in the shifter mech.

Also, I can see that the pivot on one box, is at a different angle to the other. Look to the right of the slave cylinder on the top picture.

Exactly, there different so ive been informed i have to remove the old gearbox's shifter setup and install it into the new gearbox, Also ive been told it can only be pulled out when its in neutral .. im not sure what gear its in cause there's no linkages on the old gearbox

Have you took the old one off already then, with the box in neutral?

If so then you can wobble the linkages on the new box to see if that is in neutral and carry out the same operation.
