    Light output is awesome now.

    Hey Sierra,

I've just ordered a set of Hella Celis and am wondering if you used regular bulbs in them before you did the HID upgrade? If so, what was the output like? Also, are the Celis' a straight plug n play, or is there some modification needed to get them working properly?

    Cheers,

Funnily enough these are genuine VW stock tail lights that came on the Chinese market Mk IV in the ebay pics.
The only concern is that the fog light (red lens) is on the left hand side and the reverse light is only in the right hand lens and they can't be swapped around, so it would be technically illegal to use them here because the foglight would be on the wrong side...but that has rarely stopped anyone on here from modding their car

Sorry mate, I installed the HID's straight away with the Celis, so can't comment on the light output with Halogen lights through the projectors.

Lights were plug and play, except that I had to remove the height adjustment motor from the factory lights and put them into the Celis... but that was a pretty straight forward job.

I live and play in the city so it's hard to say because there is so much ambiant lighting - it's probably pretty comparable to the stock ones. Certainly there are much brighter options out there but I really like the black smoked look.
