  • whats a good exhaust for the 1.8t gti?

    hey guys,

i have a 2003 GTi and was just wondering where i can find the best bang for buck for exhausts(full turbo back) in Melbourne.
something that gives performance and a great sound, similar to the magnaflow exhaust.

post photos of your custom/branded exhaust if you wish.

    thanks

The euro brands are obviously quite expensive but I got a full turbo back custom made by Tuffy for well under $1000.

You can see/hear it at the end of this vid...

$300 for a downpipe is all you need

If you want a rear muffler, supersprint, remus or a locally made one.

Myself i have a 3" downpipe, remus exhaust. Not AS expensive as some people think however your car will NOT drone and sound like **** on most common "turbo back exhausts" from local fitter/suppliers.

Ebay is prob your best bet, www.bestmufflers.com (Chris) is the man when it comes down to Remus pricing, carline in melb have a few, oettinger (apr)..

imo, 3" downpipe + a backbox is all you need.
      What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

thanks guys, i'll look into it. i was talking to a guy in melb and he was offering me a full APR exhausts system for 3.5k, and felt like i was getting ripped off so i wanted to look into it, my friend is telling me to buy the magnaflow exhaust off ebay, find a down pipe and some one to fit it. what do you guys think.

        you guys can judge.

$3.5k for small power gains just isnt worth it if you ask me

3.5k! my god.. i would go on an overseas trip! stuff that lol

magnaflow is good but expect it to be a bit louder then some others.

check with local suppliers, including mag wheel tyre centre in melb as they sometimes have exhausts in stock to suit as well

For $3.5K buy a Silvia for a track car and keep your GTI stock.

                That is ridiculous.

I doubt you'll find an off the shelf item in Australia except APR. One off is the way to go.

prices have averaged around the $300 mark... give or take a few dollars...
