  • Dash Removal

Does anyone know how to, or a DIY thread that details how to remove the dash, ie: the piece on top of the centre cluster that butts up to the bottom of the window. I recently bought an internal aerial and dont want to attach it to the windscreen, so im wanting to put it under the dash.

    Cheers, Evan.

Got any more details on the aerial?

There are a heap of threads on Vortex. I hope you have patience and a good memory when you've removed the 11ty million screws, clips etc

Here is the link to the Aerial, i got it from TMT tuning, it was USD $40.

I found both of those vortex threads, they dont really cover the part that i am trying to lift up. To make things abit clearer, i am wanting to lift up, if possible, the section i have put an arrow to in the below pic

Could you get in there by removing the passenger side airbag module, or perhaps from in the front (where the air conditioning filter goes)?
          Nothing to see here...

thats too complicated why not just fit it behind the middle air vents (if there is space) or can't you just use the glovebox?

i may have missed something, but would think that putting it under the dash would lead to some pretty cruddy reception?

Slightly off topic, but I thought I would be clever and try changing the car kit for my phone - the speaker, mic & holder are all in place already so I only needed to change the system box behind the dash to a bluetooth version... Unfort the existing system box wasn't really where I expected it to be and I ended up pulling out the glovebox, the cover panels under the steering wheel and opening up the centre console area holding the stereo etc in my attempts to find it. Then I had to get it back together.

                DON'T DO IT!!!

Those clips are a PITA to put back together and never fit back the same way! The end of my centre tunnel cover where the gearstick is, is now out of alignment and not clipped in properly. I'll have to have another crack at that...but I think one of the clips broke.

If you wanted to get under the top cover of the dash (without me looking at those vortex threads) I recon you'd have to pull off all the lower panels and remove the glovebox and centre console first.

                Good luck *frown*

The kit in question is designed for mounting internally, thus negating the requirement for an external aerial. I'd have to assume they wouldn't be selling it if the reception wasn't acceptable.
