Yeah it's in the expansion tank, not on top of the radiator like other cars.

You shouldn't just use water though! You should have G12+ coolant in there. It's okay to use water for a bit but you shouldn't do it permanently because it wears the hoses out quicker and causes crap to build up because of lack of chemicals.

G12+ is available through VW or VW related places...not too expensive even from the stealers.

than you so much mate i will star filling it up. i've got a red coolant, i got it at super cheap, it's specefically formulated for cars using red or orange coolant. this should be ok to use?

Yeah, should be fine to use. if it's a concentrate though, make sure you mix it with demineralised water, not tap water; else defeats the purpose of it.

Chemicals in it are anti-corrosive, specifically to stop aluminium from wearing. aluminium wearing can lead to cracks in the head = need welding, new head gasket, etc.

          good fun is chemistry.

To remove coolant is there a bung hole at the bottom of the radiator or do you have to remove a hose to the radiator?

Thought id ask here than make my own thread..
              Thanks

The bottle probably says what specifications it meets - if it meets the VW G12+ spec, it'll be fine!

Be very careful with the Super Cheap stuff - I don't think it is compatible...

from nulon's website: "Use in all cooling systems as a replacement for any red/orange coloured coolant."

Nulon's red coolant; same stuff supercheap sells.

Despite them saying it's suitable for any replacing any red/orange fluid, I'd still check for the specific G12+ standard, or use something else - particularly on a car with any warranty left on it.

And given that Nulon list a number of other manufacturer specifications for that product but NOT VW G12+, I'd be cautious...

I have spoken to the Gurus at Nulon a long time ago about this one. Ok you CANNOT mix the 2. However if you completely drain and flush you can start from scratch with the red Nulon, DO NOT MIX as will cause dramas.
For the cost of G12+ from the likes of Imparts i wouldnt bother. Stick with G12 plus IMO.
Not dissing NULON in any way as like i say it can be used on its own. They do a very good product/s
