Front wishbone bushes are likely be shot. VAG-COM scan is the best thing you can do.

sun roofs may have been standard on the earlier model years, with the red recaro seats (not 100% on that), but not on the later models, my 2003 doesn't have one.
timing belt, water pump should have been changed, 60000km i think. (so they might be coming up again if you're looking at higher km's!)

Pretty much as above, but if you buy an early mk4 in silver they come with grey mesh recaros.

My then girlfriend, now wife wouldn't park herself on the red recaros.
        Really wasn't a fan.

when i baught my mk4 it was at 103,000 ks n hadnt had the major.. i got it done at around 105,106 ks (timing belt, water pump etc) $550.. it was done at
          Total Car Care, Paddington..

          Mob: 0434 900 243
          ask for andrew..

sunroof was standard and was on every single other mk4 i looked at dont think ive ever seen 1 without but i could be mistaken..

problems ive experienced so far are lower bushes front and rear needed replacing.. and also my gearbox mounts just went..

yeh dat is prety cheap.. think i paid like $1000 last time lol

is the major really done at 60,000? so buying a 120,000 with the major done would be better off.

Belts every 4 years or 60,000kms seems to be wise. People will say longer/shorter. Meh.

Personally, I bought an unmodded car with low kms and then paid $1K to do the service less than a month after owning it. Each to their own though.

what i remember the differences are

                    Early 99.
                    Bushes worn as mentioned (w/bones)
Recaro Seats (some like, some dont)
Full Size Spare (alloy 16", later come with 16 stockie instead)
                    Sunroof Standard
No MFA/FIS Dash - Simple only

                    01 onwards
                    spare wheel is stockie 16"
recaro's gone to generic recardo style seating (i prefer it honestly)
half mfa / full mfa dash (good luck finding a full one)
                    different gear knob
different woodgrain style (usually not cracked unlike earlier models lol)
rear power socket optional in some ive noticed (all in early models tho have this)

i think thats all, if i remember more ill post
                    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

My car is wierd. Got the later style wheels, recaros and rear power plug but no MFD. It's a 2001 model.
