Odd toe on the rear wheels of my car

Hi all,

I had to replace the front tyres on my Bora for rego (the camber due to shot suspension bushings wore the old ones out on the inside edges of the tread prematurely), and I had them do an alignment at the same time.

The left side rear toe was spot on, but the right was way out. The guy doing the job (not a VW expert) said he couldn't find any way to adjust it, so had to leave it as it was.

Is the rear toe on the Bora adjustable? If not, is is unusual for one side to be out? I believe the rear suspension needs a freshen up as well, is doing that likely to fix the issue?

A quick look on ETKA to see how it's put together. I suspect the only thing other than accident damage that could affect toe would be a worn bush.

Given the age of the car and the state of the front bushes, that wouldn't surprise me. As far as I'm aware it's not been in any accidents (no indication of panel work at all). I guess it'd be possible for the rear wheel to have hit a gutter pretty hard with no panel damage done - I'm getting it up on stands shortly, I'll have a good look underneath to see if I can pick any accident damage.

I don't remember what the scale was - but it used laser beams and mirrors to establish the reading. The left side laser reflected right back into the centre of the reading plate - the right side was 3/4 the way out to the outer edge (indicating toe out).

Check the subframe for split paint, it might indicate damage.
