  • Number Plate

Hi guys, have seen a couple of R32's with the front number plate holder removed, what i mean, is the additional material that sticks out of the front bumper that the number plate attaches to.

I am thinking it would look pretty cool to remove this, i know i will have to go to a panel shop to fill in the 4 holes, but other then that, i think it could be done quite cheap

first of all, has anyone on here done it?
    if not
does anyone know how to or any links on how to do it?

    thanks a lot

    tom

Its very simple. There are 4 plastic pins holding it. You can push the centers in and they should come off. Take the plate off and you'll see it. you dont need any instructions

That's only if you remove the number plate as well. I'm pretty sure he's just referring to the plate holder itself and then attaching the plates to the bumper so there is no sticky outedness.
I reckon just get some Euro plates that way you cover the holder entirely anyway.

Just stick your plates on with double sided tape after you fill the holes.

                yer that would be great.

yer i am only referring to the plate holder itself, although it would be pretty good with no plates for an afternoon hahah jks

I am planning to get custom plates, and i think it would look best without it.

If you can remove the holder - it looks great!

I've found that the front of cars look better with a slimline plate (if the area suits) and the back with a full size either euro or standard. Weird that.

No problem. Be careful when you take it off, it might leave marks on the bumper

Took mine off tonight. You are going to have to pull off your front bumper.

To do this there are approx 7 torx screws in each wheel arch you have to remove, 5 bigger torx screws behind and underneath the front grill, 4 torx screws underneath on the splash guard, a nut behind each of the passenger and drivers side lower grilles and finally the temperature sensor behind the lower grill on the passenger side.

The front bumper should just pull off easy as now (as well as the attached splash guard. Just make sure your front grill is lifted up and out of the way (no need to detach it though) and the temp sensor is detached (you don't want to rip out the wires on that).

Now make sure your number plate is removed and then hammer through the centers of the plate holder clip thingys (a hole punch will help with this). When these push through you will be able to then use some needle nose pliers to push through the clips and the plate holder should then come off pretty easy. You'll see what I mean once you have a look behind the bumper.

A photo of how mine looks like. I've got a slimline plate coming so I'm going to get all the lovely holes filled. The 5 bigger holes are from the plate holder.

                            Cheers,
