Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It could just be a faulty oil pressure sender unit (most likely, but it could also be a more serious problem (faulty oil pump). If you are handy with a multi meter, you just have find sender unit and then see if it id faulty, or you could just take it to a mechanic and get them to see if it is doing it.

What engine you running?????? Could be a pressure switch and there is different ways to check them depending which colour it is. 0.3 bar switch is Brown, 1.4 Bar is Black, 1.8 Bar is white, 0.25 Bar is Blue. When checking the low pressure switches with a test lamp, the light will stay on till the revs are raised. High pressure will stay out till revs raised. Could also be the level sender faulty, this is common if you have one, although the light on the dash will be yellow, pressure will be red
