  • Ebay Headlight conversion

Easter weekend boredom got the better of me.... so I was looking at these headlights and I am wondering if anyone else has done a similiar conversion. Is it a simple as it seems? I am acutely aware that quality may be an issue, but I do recall reading something about requiring a cable adapter or something like that,

    cheers

Only being honest here but the look nasty! and you would have to question the quality of a set of headlamps that cost under 100 US dollars! I put a set of FK headlights on my old golf years ago and swore never again to fit cheap headlights, the output was crap and the got fogged up inside.

Don't mean to rain on your parade just offering honest advice.

Ps i just noticed the indicator looks like a nipple!

Shane, all valid points.. just making discussion today.. not looking to buy that set, theres a few versions out there, but key issue would be the quality.

I would hold out for some OEM xenons or GLI lights if i was you.I recently got some lamin-x film for my lights available in a few different tints and can really change the look of a car, maybe a decent HID kit and some smoked Lamin-X tinted film? cheap and cheerful

Ditto. There's a reason that is Hella stamped on my OEM stock rear tail lights.

Don't touch ebay lights you'll never be satisfied and IMHO I've never seen a pair that didn't make the car look ****ty and cheap.

I've been looking for a headlight upgrade for the Bora myself. I've seen lights similar to the eBay ones from the OP available from eBay stores in Australia (these for instance: http://www.marsperformance.com/html/...ora-Jetta.html), but have steered cleared due to the old adage that "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is".

If you're happy with reflectors, TMTuning sell the following "blackout" lenses (the standard e-code lights are the type we get here I think): http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...efault_kat=48#

They also do OEM HID (Xenon) upgrades as well: http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...efault_kat=64#

I'm not terribly interested in HIDs myself at the moment (the requirements and associated costs are more than I'm interested in paying right now), but I would be happy to obtain a set of projector-style lights (they're a good compromise of cost vs enhanced performance over standard reflectors). If anyone has links to something decent, please let me know!

How long ago did you do that blue_reality? How did you find the quality of the lights?

I'm considering these: http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/pro...roducts_id=113 at the moment...

Lights are great. Good build. (They cost around $400 so aren't $50 bodgy ones and the rears are genuine Hella which were also around $400)

Only thing is the light pattern slants up towards the right because they are designed for right-hand road use. But all in all really happy with them.

The place I got them from is MARS_PERFORMANCE. You'll find them on ebay.

Did it a few weeks ago.

Can someone confirm that the Joey mod can be done here.
I read somewhere about the Mk4 lights here in Aus not able to be opended to paint the interior...

                              Anyone?
