help with lowering springs for bora 4motion

hi guys

need some help with some springs that are for sale in the classifieds.

they are neuspeed springs for a mrk4 r32 part numbers front 55.10.70R
Rear 55.02.86R

just wanted to confirm that they will fit bora v6 4 motion. i have checks various websites but cant find part numbers listed for the 4 motion.

any helf would be apprediated

from experience, our 4motions are somewhat compatible with Mk4 R32, and Audi TTQ(8N) and S3(8P)....

They should fit - the suspension parts between the Golf R32 and Bora V6 4Motion are compatible (as they use the same drivetrain). That's why the Bora is different from the regular Mk IV Golf (the FWD and AWD drivetrain are different).

Bear in mind that with any lowering over an inch you're going to have some pretty wicked negative camber. I'm dropped about 1.25" and that resulted in about 2.6 degrees.

what were Vw thinking man........

here is a picture of my bora 4 motion oettinger edition, stock set up. Its actually quite good on "sydney" roads but the rear sits way too high.

Yeah I know what you mean. A little bit of dumpage goes a long way. Your tyres won't be thanking you for the camber though. I'm going to be lucky to get 20,000kms out of my Pirellis and the camber has been on for no more than 5,000kms. Adjustable rear control arms will fix this though. Might be worth doing a bit of research as I'd say your front camber is adjustable as well.

Hey Eddie, I've had the same problem... I've now lowered my 03 4Motion Sport and it looks much better... I first went with H&R springs and Bilsteins, but it was very firm. I don't think that the Mk4s have a huge amount of suspension travel, which doesn't help...

I ended up switching the Bilsteins for Koni sports and that's heaps better, but they probaby aren't matched perfectly, cause they bottom out from time to time.

If I had my time again I think I'd go with adjustable coilovers - I've ended up spending pretty much the same to get the set up I've got now.

Trent makes a good point on the neg camber too - my rears have close to 4 degrees now - not that good for tyres! I spoke with Ian at Rennenhaus during the week (thanks Trent, I think you pointed me in his direction) and he's given me some prices for Forge and Neuspeed upper control arms, but they're not cheap at around $600-$700.

Be prepared for plenty of front spoiler scraping too - I reckon mine is less than 10cm from the ground now...

But would I go back to the stock springs? No chance!

I've got a set of coilovers to put onto my V6 4Motion - if I'm not happy with them, I was tossing up between the Koni Sports and Koni FSD kit.

What springs did you get with the Koni Sports? I was quoted Eibach springs to "match", as the Sports didn't come with springs (the FSD kit does come as shocks and springs, but they're a softer setup all around again apparently).

thanks for the imput mate.
i cant justify the cost of coil overs as iam not tracking or racing the car. the bora v6 4 motion is more in line with a grand tourer than a racer, it just needs some lowering.

i bought the springs from Mr JLT , neuspeed sport 1.5 drop. they were on his R32 they will suit my purpose perfectly, 2.5 to 3 degrees of negative camber is nothing to worry about, just rotate your tyres, i currently averaging 15000 to 20000 km per year so i expect 2 years out of my tyres and thats fine, ive run kumo ecsta tyres on my previous cars and find them perfect in both dry and wet with plenty of grip and at $140 a tyre there not that expensive.

there are adjustable control arms available, i know neuspeed make them.

Koni or bilstein are both my choice of shock mate also just got to match em up to your springs, but i have found in the past koni are better. So i think i'll go down that route again.

the springs should arrive next week so ill install them as soon as i get them and post some pictures.
