Removing gear knob Bora V6 4Motion

Hi All,

I am trying to replace the leather boot on the gear lever. Have a replacement boot ready to go but cannot get the gear knob off. Have located and loosened the (gold coloured) metal ring that appears to lock the gear knob in place on the shaft, but still cannot budge the knob itself. Do I need to just exert more force and pull it off, or is there a trick to this? Many thanks.

From what you've described and from the above links, it sounds like you've just got to use a fair bit of effort to get it out.

Many thanks for that. I tried searching the forum as I thought I had seen something about it before, but came up with nothing. It seems like all you need to do is just to pull really hard! I will give that another try and see what happens. Appreciate the help.
