Did you swap all 4 mate, or just the fronts?

$203 ouch. NRMA know how to take advantage of a stranded motorist.

          • was doing an oil change, then saw a fair bit of oil/tran fluid leaking around the transmission.
had a closer look, could see it had even sprayed up to the inlet to the turbo, then i saw that my hose clamp had completely come loose!!!
the TIP seems to have only come off slightly though, but it was only being held on by it's own force (plus the very tight fit, it's very jammed in thanks to that pesky coolant pipe...)

gonna be hard to try push the TIP on more, it's such a pain to get a good grip on to. will have to remove the dogbone for better access...

            so where am i leaking???
I had a gearbox oil change about 20,000k ago if that means anything?

            • Paul, I'd have a good look at the pipe before you refit it. Just to make sure it's not damaged/split.

They are the world's worst to get done up tight due to the bad access. Also, try and clean the turbo inlet and the inside of the pipe so there's nothing oily in there. That should help it stay put in future.

Have you looked at a replacement TIP yet?

              • Willl do, but that is a replacement TIP!
I installed it, and hence why it probably came off
the stock one is metal at that section, and attached with socket head bolt.
I knew i had to do this up very tight, and i thought i did. Suppose not.

And from one problem to another.
Taking off the dogbone, an 034 motorsport street density dogbone, it's only done about 5000k's on me and it's already cracked!

                • I should have spotted the rubber all the way to the turbo. Schoolboy error

I think that the little bush could remain standard when fitting a dogbone. Surprised to see it split ever?

Did you get hold of goodfella yet?

                  • haha. you're forgiven.
yeah but the 034 motorsport dogbone supply the entire dogbone, so that bush comes new too.
i have the old dogbone that i put the yellow bfi busings in, but it is too rough for my liking.

i worked out why the hose clamp likes to come off, as i tighten it, it slips outwards because it is trying to come off the metal lip of the turbo. i tried for the life of me to wedge a pole at it to keep it in place as i tightned it up, but nope it still seems to slip off a bit. will see how it goes as is, but it's likely just gonna happen again.

it appears the transmission leak is on the right side where it comes out to the axle for the right wheel... not sure what that means.

                    • Pulled off the front bumper, grille, and headlights.
Followed this method so no point in me writing one, exept i did almost break the temperature sensor attached to the front bumper because i completely forgot about it

Dropped in my 4mo headlights (with fog) and with a slight joey mod, and plastic lens refurb.
All the work is a bit ghetto looking, but i can live with that... for now..

Also removed my single lower front fog finally.

                        • Fixed my front passenger window which had decided to dance with the bottom of my door (and with a loud thunk as I was driving out of the supermarket, thought I'd cleaned up a trolley!). Mmmm those Bora doors are a challenge, but the onset of bad weather tends to give you a hurry along . . .

                            • Swore at , cursed at, hit at and generally got frustrated with the Bora. However another 4 hours down and the intake manifold is off (read pita to remove) airbox is out, throttle body off and the biggest pain of them all, the exhaust from manifold back to just past the cats is off.

I'd forgotten just how painfull working on modern cars is!

Test fitted the turbo, manifold and wastegate onto the block and everything fits with plenty of clearance Have nearly finished with the intercooled piping outside of the engine bay, was going to get it done yesterday but ran out of argon (left the gas tap on and the feed line to my welder blew off overnight )

Soon on the list is removing the head, just waiting on the head spacer from C2 motorsports and a bunch of ARP gear also from the U.S. Anyway more gas also arrived today so bring forth the weekend and my next days off and i'll continue the charge to boost!
