  • Yeah it was a hit and run, shattered it was inevitable! Some kid said he saw a trailer back into it, but didn't really get any details...

Thankfully, it isn't as much as I originally thought, $1500 worth of damage. Yeah I've definitely learned my lesson, although this being my every now and then car, I kept it with third party. Although I have plans of purchasing an R soon, I can tell you I'll definitely (possibly obviously) be signing comprehensive insurance papers for that one!

      • There truly are some real scumbags walking this earth.

        That is unbelievable.

Is there possibly any security camera footage?...someone probably stole the camera though.

        • I reckon stuff comprehensive insurance especially if it's an older car. Most likely the money you save over the years is more than the cost of a repair + excess (unless you're a crappy driver or live in Broady).

          Self insurance is my policy!

Not true everyone should have comprehensive insurance you never know what can happen on the roads just cause you sensible you can't always look out for the amount of clowns out there!!! take the golf for example!!! Easy a 3,000 grand job to repair at a proper shop.

Well I'm a risk taker I guess. In the 10 years I've been driving I've never had full comp and I've easily saved more than $10k in insurance. Easy enough to cover any major damage I sustain and I'm prepared to suck it in if I get hit by an uninsured driver/hit and run. Works for me, might not work for the faint of heart.

                  • I swear by full insurance. Ive made at least 15 claims, 2 were my fault. Most were straight up no stress but on a few occasions the other party tried to pull some crap. You never want to take on an insurance company yourself, they are absolute ****s when it comes to admitting liability, a simple rear ender can take months to get a resolution. I've been battling for 3 years now on a CTP claim, I even work for the insurance co. and can't get them to do anything in a reasonable time frame.

                    • Well today I dropped the front bumper off, took out the passenger side headlight and re-attached the internal mechanism that adjusts the headlight up and down. The stupid thing is only attached by a rubber collar to a post on the light casing and the leveling motor, I used some good rubber (shoe goo) glue to hold the two pieces together this time. The light dropped off a couple of months ago when I was towing a car down to SA for my daughter and a HUGE pothole appeared in the road that I was never going to steer around with over a tonne of extra weight attached behind me.
While I had the front bumper off I discovered why the external temp always matched the internal temp, It seems that the outside temp sensor was never reattached the last time someone had the front bumper off.
                      That's fixed now as well.
I also received confirmation from the eBay seller that my badge-less grill has been posted, I will take photos when it arrives
finnily enough it is being sent from Riga in Latvia, my Dads birth place

                          • Yesterday got my HPA competition Haldex controller put in. WOW simply amazing to drive now! Much better than before when I had front wheel drive (obviously) haha
It really feels like it wants to kick the rear out in tight corners and in others it just grips, goes and drives straight out of them no matter how much lock you have on! haha
Very pleased with the product and HPA provided really good service

                            • Nice Jed. I was toying with a comp controller but managed to grab a blue one at a good price. But I do wonder if maybe the comp one might have been better ! one day maybe i'll grab one.

haha I'd say other than keeping the rears engaged during braking the difference would be unidentifiable between the two on public roads.
However having the rears engaged during braking is AWESOME! It makes the whole car super stable and you can brake a fair bit later due to that and the slight extra mechanical braking you get.
The car also responds to heel toeing better due to this
Great upgrade in my opinion Matt!
