Yeah sounds like an idea. Did you need to cut the block off the stock rubber mount that aligns the old spring? And do you remember having to remove the shock to have to take them out.
I kept the stock rubber mount.. To remove the spring I had to undo the bottom of the shock.. Put some weight on and the spring comes out very easily.
It took me longer to put my wheels back on than to remove the adjuster and perch.. Stupid spacers.
Not today but finally registered my gti last week!
Was happy to fit a new 51" plasma in the back, still in the box.
Surprised how she goes, now just have to sort out my neg camber on the front right wheel.
(Thought it could be adjusted from the top strut nut ???)
Gearing seems high, compared to what I've been used to lately but a joy to drive all the same.
Might actually raise her a little but then again, yet to check if I can soften the KW's with the adjusting knob to settle the harshness a little.
Then again I am rolling on 18s.
Enkei RS05's are on the golf..
couple of pics to show fitment.
I'm pretty happy to say the least, perfect on the front. rears could've gone another 5mm out but oh well, happy none the less.
weight of the wheel and tyre combo comes in at 20kg. much better than the 25-26kg I had with the TT wheels and almost worn tyres.

Just remove either the top or bottom (up to you) shock mount and both springs should easily be removed.
Edit, beaten to it.
Dam was trying to avoid taking the shock out as i managed to fold the thread on one of the bottom bolts (mind you that was probably due to frustration more than anything) Just curious if you guys had a trick to do it without doing that.

both cars look good!
what specs did you end up with audi-tone?
Hey dylan. Final et of 25 front and rear. 225/40/18 tyres. Had some problems with the bolts I bought being to bloody long so I we had to machine them down to a 22mm thread length which worked perfectly.

cant let defects hold people back.
Its almost a yr since my defect and it hasnt stopped me going lower and wider.
Turn it back to stock, get it passed, leave it like that for a week or 2, slam again :p
my car is currently dragging on the ground, cant use full lock even on stockies, bottomed out twice even on the silky smooth packy bypass at 100km/h, and yet the highway i travel every day in eastgippsland was just named the worst in victoria. So you other guys have it easy in my opinion haha
