  • what offset are your rs4 reps?

    Comment

    • 19 x 8 +35 offset on all four. Im happy with the flushness on the front, but would like the rears to sit closer to the guards. I think 9" width would probably be ideal, or 10" for a bit of poke.

      • yeah i've got the exact same specs as you (also reps), and agree, fronts are perfect, but rears could be spaced out 10mm more, though i don't want the worry of having an illegal mod that could void insurance...
the only thing convincing me to put spacers on the rear is that the rear's don't experience anywhere nears as much as the forces in the front wheels, so chances of the rear wheels being the cause of an accident are not very likely, meaning it would be less likely that the insurer would try to void your insurance on those grounds, but still who knows i've got no idea on how strict they are... so probably not worth the risk

          • With insurance i wouldn't unless you can get it in writing that they approve but since its illegal i dont see that happening. I've heard storys about insurence being void because they didn't tell them that they put new mags on the car which wouldnt even do anything but they will try to get out of it anyway possible

Lots of stories, but in the end, they can only refuse insurance if the modification contributed to the accident and was found to be illegal or not up to standard.

They may refuse to replace your $5000 wheels with a new set of $5000 wheels if you don't specifically list them (so instead you get a set of stockers), but refusing to pay up when you have a crash just because you had different wheels to stock (again, as long as road legal), wouldn't get them very far.
                Nothing to see here...

They're 235/35's. No stretch to them, just a normal fitting tyre for everyday driving. 225's would prob look nice though

nice! any pics of the BMC in? where'd you put the ignition control module?
and does it sound any different? feel any better?

                        • I'll take some pics tomorrow. The ignition control modul is zip-tied up onto a bracket on the firewall that had nothing on it. Thinking of getting the rubber mount from the airbox and supergluing it to the firewall so you can just mount it into that. It does make a slightly louder sucking noise and you get the pssh at gear change, but it's not loud (like my friend's evo with a pod) which is how I wanted it.

                          • OH you don't really want an Evo Pod noise do you ? It's so loud and 'look at me !!', which matches the Evo image. I much prefer the subtle woosh the BMC gives, has more of the 'oh, what was that car' feel too it. Matching the GTI's understated looks etc.

                            • if you take out the brackets, he says "but it's not loud, which is how i wanted it"
at least that's how i interpreted.

just remember to try and put the ECM somewhere it will dissipate heat, so either on some metal that does not get heated by the engine, or somewhere where there is airflow.

                              • Haha, NO I DON'T WANT EVO POD SOUND!!! I much prefer the low sucking noise of the CDA, you wouldn't really notice it unless you knew what to listen for which is perfect! My friends evo pod was as loud as the exhaust, not to my taste imo and is why I went CDA instead of a neuspeed pod on stick type set up. The ECM is 'securely' in place atm but yeah I am thinking of other ideas. We did decide to leave the heatsink on and it's not to close to any hot surfaces, should be ok for now. Here's some pics
