Hi crewsters,
I was sorta looking at my Engine bay the other day and noticed that there was a strange looking hose coming out from the middle of the engine block, the top looked a bit weird so of course I prodded it as you see I think touching is believing (aswell as seeing lol) and when I've sorta pushed on the weird (and broken) bit it moved and well for lack of a better description fell apart.....
Ok so the bit I am talking bout is the top breather bit on the Crankcase gas breather hose (06A103217A) and it's on my '01 Golf AVU 1.6ltr....
So I pop / slot the breather bit back between the 2 bits of hose and just taped it up, at the time I wasn't even sure what it was but now after working out what it is am wondering
1. how crutial is this part
2. is this problem common as the part ain't that easy to find (I get alot of russian and polish sites)
3. anyone have a clue of whats involved in replacing it?
Am I looking at a pull-apart the whole head to get to it or does it just slot into place??
any help or advice on this would be great, I'm not a total noob with tools so I'd assume I could tackle this one myself but am clearly lacking some knowledge
