  • 04 Bora - Overheating AGAIN!!!!!!

    Can anyone help me.

    Our Bora intermittently overheats.
The fan works sometimes then doesn't other times.
The mechanic replaced the thermostat thinking it could've been sticky, also the temp sender was replaced. Quite costly it was.

And now it's doing it again. Is there a fan relay or something similar that could be causing this problem?

I feel that I have a Fiat under the body.

As this is my Wife's car, she is ready to throw it off a cliff and buy a japanese car. Eeeeek.

Any help would be much appreciated. Friends and forums have all said that the Bora is generally bullet proof.
    Cheers

There is a fan relay box under the bonnet. It's by the battery IIRC. They do play up sometimes. There is also a few fuses on a bracket over the battery, I have seen them melt the housing. Check them out too.

Yeah there are 3 wires with fuses coming off the relay panel at the back of that little fusebox under the bonnet. On top of the battery. They goto a connector.

Next time the fans are not coming on, squeeze the connector and they should start.

An auto electrician can bypass the dodgy connector with an inline fuseholder, or buy another fuse box.

Have you tried the fuse for the cooling fan and air com?
Mine has blown a couple of times resulting in Mega over heating. On my golf the fuse is above the battery in a little box. Its the one on the left.

          Yes,

it looks like this happened to my car in a past life. As one of the blade fuses had melted its surround

And another one! I've suffered the same problem.

Water pump -will have different symptoms, like Loon has mentioned the fuse block can be bypassed if you are stuck. These are on the shelf at Dub or Audi. Same part on an A3.

Even a busted water pump can can behave around town then play up on a big hill or when it's been driven for a while, see it every week.
