  • R32 Brake Pads

The time has come for me to change the brake pads on my car. Im not sure which brand to go for, all i know is that i dont want OEM because the amount of brake dust is crazy. Any suggestions?

zz2 will chime in with a response that will contain the brand "Hawk" or similar (my memory is shocking).

I will be going down the same track when the MKV pads are up for replacement.

EBC redstuff maybe ? Mine dont give half as much dust as my rears which are oem. And they are good at high temps to.

I've got EBC Redstuffs all around. $690 for all four. Front pads fit the R and some other high end performance euros. Brake dust is less but due to the wheel design you're always going to have dust.
Performance wise they're quite as good as OEM (they're harder) but once warmed up they perform much better.
If you look on the EBC international website you can get the part number for the fonts. The rears aren't listed but they're the same pads as for the Audi S3 8L.

I know that my local Auto Barn sells EBC, so it may be worth talking to your local one. Also, I don't know if you have considered Bendix Ultimates...These things are awesome, very resistant to brake temp after repeated applications, great bite, and low dust, and Repco and Auto Barn do them.

Thanks for the info but there is no Auto Barn in WA
I sent an email to Bendix and they told me because my car is a special model they don't make brake pads for it. Honestly, i think that $690 for a set of brake pads (like Treza said in an earlier post) is way too much. I dont take my car to a track and lately i've been driving it gently (im getting old i guess ). I'd be happy with something decent and not too expensive.

I organised the Pads through Guy_H. EBC are a right pain in the ass to deal with and I never got a response from them directly. The price is a bit much but it is pretty expensive to go the OEM route anyway, a set of fronts was over $300 last time I was quoted for them. Don't forget that the price I said was for all four corners.
Like when I was looking at replacement rotors, because the R is different not many people make an aftermarket part for them (especially here in Australia).

Balc, you could also try James at Audvolks, he supplied my EBC stuff as well as my rotors.

Someone from Ferodo is a member of another forum I frequent, I'm asking him if he has anything suitable for my R32 brake conversion, I'll let you know what he comes back with.

i got brake pads today. I got mintex for all 4 wheels and they were $197!!! i know that they are not a performance pad, but i don't take my car to a race track and i dont drive hard in general so these will be enough. Apperently a 750il and some AMG model have the same brakes I got them from Imparts in osborne park. They were very helpful and they have most parts for european cars

Went for a cruise today and almost killed myself. The car wouldnt brake under a heavy load!!! Drove it home gently and bled the bakes. Its back to normal now
Brake dust is nowhere to be seen, im happy now
