  • Help, shrieking noise coming from RHR wheel when driving. $20 for you if you get it!

Alright, 1.5 years ago i replaced the RHR wheel bearing. bearing noise went away. Then every now and again when making a hard left turn, a squeaking rotational noise would come from that wheel. Came and went and didnt really care. Yesterday morning i parked the right hand side on a curb and the left side on the road. 30 mins later drove off and it made the same noise it used to but 100x louder and could feel it through the seat. Sucks balls.

So far i have removed and inspected bearing, hub, tightened stub axle mounting bolt, checked brake pads etc to no avail!

Car is a 2002 MK4 fitted with 18 inch wheels, KW V2, RSB....

lol.... like a girl, funny ****.

it's not just tyre rub from being a lil off kilter, (wheels on curb)?

****ty wheel nuts, guess you would have sorted considering the wheels came off...?

      um metal to metal pads?
steering rack issue? PS pump could be ****ting its self?
doubt it if it's a rotational sound tho....

skint engine mount could be making some noise?
is it when your moving? or just engine?

Rock jammed in somewhere? I've had that once or twice.

x 2 on a rock being jammed somewhere, had this problem a while back sounded like an on / off rotating screech. Had a small piece of blue metal stuck between the rotor and the backing plate Once removed problem solved

if you are that concerned, take the caliper/carrier off the rotor as its common on all cars every once in a while for a rock to get caught up in the caliper/carrier sometime. (BITCHerman rocks)

check your rotor, see/feel if u can any uneven curving in one spot etc too?

If there is a rock caught in there you should be able to determine it by jacking up the car and spinning the wheel. Some of them can be a pain in the ar$e to get out as well.

Yeah, im with the rock theory, happened me once with a corolla rental car up in brissy, car had 12km on the clock when i picked it up, 20km in and some unsealed roads it started squealing pretty bad. jacked it up and gave it a good bang (not mine so didnt care too much) and it loosened and fell out.

Nope, no rocks. It wont make the sound when theres no load on the wheel. No marks on the discs, heaps of pads left aswell. Has me stumped...

Do you have much play in your bearing ? Or is the bearing done up a bit tight ? Could it possibly be a dud bearing ? The fact that it won't do it without weight on it makes me more inclined to go with a bearing issue.
