Gear box and drive shaft? Goooone

How are they breaking? High tensile bolts tend to be brittle and shear easy. Just curious

Go teh O2M !!! AS you say Bug, these boxes are in a lot of HP cars and they don't tend to break.

Pity about the 02j's though. Man 4G!!! Rent a car and replace the box yourself or source yourself a new box and have the mod's done.

Its not about winning, I`m just trying to help the guy.

I reckon unscrupulous garages would change the box and charge him hard. I think the box should be at least inspected and maybe just change the driveshaft first and see if thats all it is. $300 bil instead of thousands.

Second opinion I think they call it. I`d get one if it was my car.

I`d change the flywheel too if the box came off.

interesting, Hope you get it all sorted without to much money.

As for the 02M box is 6spd, interesting from all research i have done in the past for cltuch combo and uprating the gearbox, it appears that the 5spd box is stronger than that of the 6spd. But like i said its only from the research i have done regarding high HP golfs.

5sp boxes are usually stronger than 6 speed. In other makes and models also.
