Yeah support your local parts place in these hard economic times, or they wont be there when you need em.
Nice theory, but I've dealt with locals who, to be honest couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery (and I won't name names). As a matter of fact I'm chasing parts now from a local, and have been for weeks, that I could have picked up weeks and weeks ago from O/S but I'm just being nice and patient and wearing it.
If they are not there in the future then it won't be a mystery to me as to why.
Really the part in question used to be avalible for $5 US not to long ago from Volkswagen in the sates until Volkswagen jacked the price over there to $20 US so you tell me how parts suppliers here justify upwards of 70 dollars for the same part?
I have sourced a new sensor and I have read up on the Vortex thread, hopefully I will swap it out tomorrow morning.
I just want 1 last piece of information to be sure. The vast number of threads refer to loss of Coolant ranging from a bit to a Litre.... can any one tell me if I will need to prepare myself with coolant as well. I plan to do it 1st thing in the morning so everything will be cold, and I will depressurize the coolant reservoir.

Secret is release the pressure on the system with the cap off then refit the cap and remove the sensor. You will lose next to nothing mate. A litre is pure carelessness

I let my car sit no longer than three hours after driving all day, then I moved it, let it sit for another 15 minutes, removed the old sensor and not one drop of coolant came out. I don't know why you would lose even a quarter of a litre.
Yeah mate true that , just careless i reckon, as long as you drop the pressure and refit the cap you will lose next to nothing
Cheers
